Founder of Two Crows Theatre Company Moves On
January 27, 2025
Robert R. Doyle, founder of Two Crows Theatre Company and co-artistic director, has resigned, effective the end of January, to take a new executive opportunity in Madison.
Doyle said that he is heart-broken to say goodbye but knows he is leaving the theatre "in the more than capable hands of my partner and co-artistic director, Marcus Truschinski, business manager, Nora Murphy, and a Board of Directors that has helped us every step of the way."
Two Crows Theatre was founded in 2018 with the mission of bringing world-class theatre to Spring Green in the winter months. It was also a way to keep professional actors and technicians, who call Spring Green home, employed during the time when American Players Theatre is not in performance. And it would help local businesses survive.
Truschinski said "Doyle acted and produced, did lights and sound, set and costume work. He managed the box office and accounts. He will be remembered most for his brilliant acting in Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me and Down the Road." Six plays were produced until 2020 when Covid shut the theatre down. Because of community support, Two Crows was revived in 2024 with the production of The Thin Place by Lucas Hnath in the Touchstone Theatre on the APT campus. It continues in 2025 with three productions--one that just closed to mostly sold-out audiences at the Slowpoke Lounge and Cabaret. The second play, A Number by Caryl Churchill, will open February 20 at the Touchstone, and Songs Without Words by Jennifer Vosters will open April 17 at the Hillside Theatre at Taliesin.
Truschinski thanked Doyle for his "dedication to making intimate theatre happen in Spring Green and for building the foundation upon which the theatre can continue to flourish."
